Joan Blacher, a licensed
psychotherapist in private practice for the past sixteen years, is a former
professor and co-author of Difficult Teens: A Parents Guide for Coping.
She has had her work published in counseling and educational journals,
magazines, newspapers, and is a member of a counseling journal's editorial
board. She has lectured and given workshops on psychological and educational
topics throughout the United States. In addition to her membership in the
American Psychological Association and Sisters in Crime, she serves on community
boards that provide services to troubled children and families. She lives in
California with her husband Norman.
