Nominated for 2002 Dilys Award
"The Cold Blue Blood is a decent read, set on a small island off the Connecticut coast occupied by several members of a family that has owned the island for many years. The protagonist is a New York film critic who moves to the island. He's a bit of a mess, mourning his late wife, but perks up a bit by the end of the book, especially after meeting the African-American state police officer assigned to the case. The book's gentle humor is not as relentless as the wit in Handler's Stewart Hoag books, but the lovely developing romance and the unusual protagonist adequately compensate for the reduction in humor." - Mark Alan Miller - RAM
