Richard Helms is a forensic psychologist, and a nationally recognized expert on sex crimes and sex offenders. A past president of the North Carolina Association for Management and Treatment of Sex Offenders, Helms is often called upon to testify in court cases, and to provide training at local, regional, and national conferences. When not writing his Pat Gallegher series or his new Eamon Gold series of hardboiled mystery novels, Helms enjoys gourmet cooking, amateur astronomy and astrophotography, building stringed musical instruments, and rooting for his beloved Carolina Tarheels. Helms lives in North Carolina with his lovely wife of eighteen years, Elaine, their two children Alex and Rachel, and four cats.
