Accurate, right down to the night-time freeway construction and geography, night spots and trouble spots, Kat thinks of herself as a hard-boiled Sacramento P.I. and ex-bartender, but Kijewski reveals her compassion and soft spots through interaction with her adoptive grandmother and the teenage hooker she helps get back in school. The action is generally fast-paced, and I have a hard time putting them down. Kat is real - from her love life to her kooky friends, and I always look forward to the next one. Here's hoping she finds a new publisher soon!
