Author Information for Carol O'ConnellThis is one of the most intriguing sets of books I have run across in a long time. The character development of Kathleen Mallory and the view of her by those around her is so unlike any other I've ever read that I couldn't put the books down Kathleen Mallory, lost at 7, living on the streets, found and adopted by a police officer and his wife, and raised by them with help from a priest, a rabbi, and friends. What emerges is an incredibly complex, drop-dead gorgeous, computer genius with few ethics at all, who joins the police force. The unfolding of the details regarding Kathleen are blended into the story-line beautifully. Kathleen's discovery of bits and pieces of a past she doesn't remember, her attempts to follow rules she doesn't believe in to please her adoptive mother, and the often incredible thought processes Kathleen and those who care about her go through all fit together like a well-planned puzzle. The results are often hilarious, often sad, but always different. I laughed AND cried over Kathleen, and hope there are more books about her soon.
