[4 stars] "Although I haven't yet read the whole of this series, I thought I'd read this one in preparation for a May group read discussion of The Summer that Never Was. I was wary of the subject matter and I found this one less easy to get into than some of the others in the series. Banks and his colleague/sometime lover Annie Cabbot face some fairly unpleasant investigations. The second half was better than the first." - Luci Davin - RAM
