You Couldn't Proof It By Me.
(Season's) Greetings. It's my hope that this will be a short column that you can
use to help correct my previous columns or up coming ones. Below are some
letters, numbers and punctuation marks that you can add where you find
necessary. I've also included some blank spaces and strongly encourage you to
use your mind's edit key to eliminate typos, change small letters to capitals
where needed and to change misspelled tos to toos or twos or two's to to or too
as the case may be. You can start with whether or not the previous sentences
needed more commas and apostrophes or fewer commas and apostrophes.
(With this paragraph and some of the following I've pretty much shot down the
idea of shortness. Sorry about that.) I try to proof these columns before they
get to you but in reading over them (or should that be reading them over?),
after they're posted, I've noticed enough typos and grammar errors to bother a
teacher, which I loosely claim to be, based on a license from UWM (How's that
for sentence structure and grammar?).
I don't intend to slack off on proof reading but as often as not things will get
by me. One thing to note is these mistakes are all my own. Don't go blaming
Vicki or anyone else for them. Please, don't bother her to correct them either.
Actually, it might be fun to make a game of finding Dave's error's. Strike that.
So, while reading, please use the following (multiple times if necessary) to
insert or delete, italicize, make bold, underline, transpose, or otherwise
correct grammar and spelling mistakes where you find them. First, are a few
blank spaces . Ok. You'll need these as well. ! @ # $ % ^ &* * ( ) _ + | 1 2
3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = \ ~ ` . < > ? / ... to two too their they' re there,
where wear ware etc. : ; " ' " ' (open and closed quote versions). A a
B b C c D d E e F f G g H h I i J j K k L l M m N n O o P p Q q R r S s T t U u
V v W w X x Y y Z z.
Use the underline keys and italicize and bold keys where appropriate. I said I
was going to try to keep this column short. I'm not going to type out all this
stuff again in bold face or italicized or in any other font for that matter.
Nor, though I think my computer is set up for it, am I going to included editing
marks or foreign marks such as cedillas (sp) or umlauts (sp again) or accent
egouts or graves. Have fun. Don't go dangling your participles and I thank you.
I know it might be work for you to help me proof read but think of it as
engaging your mind. It's something I'm often accused of being out of.
Dave
