Who the Hell is Jon Jordan?
I'm Jon Jordan. I was born in 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I've lived here my whole life, but have traveled quite a bit and seen a lot of the States and Some of Europe, Canada and Mexico. I'm a recovering alcoholic, smoke (too much according to my Dad) and don't eat quite right (according to my wife). I've had some college, bartended, cooked, worked in a meat packing joint, various retail, and some other odds and ends, till I found my calling (for now at least. I work for the business my Grandfather founded in 1942, Jordan Machinery Corp. It is currently run by my Father and his two brother. I am primarily a machinist, but also do repair work. I have two sisters and a brother, and as of last fall a wonderful wife and a bunch of in-laws (who I actually really like!) I met my wife at the annual mystery convention, Bouchercon. We were married a year later (to the day). My main interests are reading, music, and movies. I read mostly mysteries and comics, but I dabble in other areas. I listen to all kinds of music and watch all kinds of movies. Being an obsessive person, I have amassed a large collection of books (over 4,000) Music (over 3,000 albums) and movies( around 2,500). I love the idea of having my own entertainment library right at my fingertips. Luckily my wife understands this and actually enjoys it also. I'm not sure where this column will go from week to week, but I hope to keep it entertaining if not informative. I was lucky enough to run across Vicki on the Rec.arts.mystery newsgroup. She asked if I would be interested and I figured I could probably come up with enough to say to fill a column at least once every other week. So, that's me. So I guess this week I'm going to talk about I find out about who I want to read. It seems to work kind of like a family tree. One author leads to another go to book signings and ask who the authors read. My reasoning is, I love their work, so I will probably enjoy who they read. I also listen to friends who have similar tastes. This has lead to many great finds. A lot of which I might never have found on my own.
Some of these authors include:
For my next article, I think I'll do a little history on a few of these authors. Later! Jon |
