Spring is here.

And that means a whole lot of new books are coming soon. I may need part time work soon! The new Rick Riordan has finally made it's way to my home. And I can't wait to dive into it.

Tres Navaro is a very likable fella. He's good to his mom, tries to be honorable to his Father's memory and treats his brother right. I also like the fact that he's not just a tough guy. He is teaching as well as working as a private eye. The series has a nice progression to it and a nice sense of humor. Plus a cat that eats Burritos.

There should also be a new Charles Todd book coming soon. This is a series that I really did not think I would like. It's historical (post World War I) and it takes place in England. But I truly love these books. The Inspector Rutledge character seems to be an ageless detective. The instincts that guide him could just as easily work in today's time and in other places. He also has a quirkiness about him that makes you want to cheer for him. The Scotland Yard doesn't seem to really want him, but they can't just let him go either. And what ever they throw his way, he seems to endure it and succeed.

I got sucked right into theses books. I read the first three back to back, and the last one as soon as it came out.

I also just picked up the new Steve Hamilton. It's called The Hunting Wind. I like Alex McKnight a lot too. A cop who retired early and moved up north (in Michigan) to escape the city. He reluctantly gets sucked into cases in the first two books. And though that sounds like a kind of cliché, it works. He comes across as a guy just trying to live his life, but can't help himself from getting involved. The plots work well, and are fast paced. And coming from a colder climate, I can tell you that they do read very believably. I put on blankets when he was describing the cold in an ice fishing shack.
