Stephen Booth, author of Black Dog, Dancing With Virgins and Blood On The Tongue, was in Milwaukee signing books and speaking at Mystery One Bookshop.

I heard from the owners of Booked 4 Murder right after Stephen headed back to Milwaukee for his signing at Mystery One. Mike said, "What a great guy! I wish all authors were this nice". And I would have to agree. Mr. Booth has a wonderful knack for engaging the crowd, not unlike his writing ability. He makes everyone feel important and glad they came to see him. He fielded questions about the books and where they are set. He also talked about some true crime things; like the Yorkshire Ripper, and how his wife once wondered if it might be him! Also the conversation drifted towards American and British architecture, and and the areas around London. He gave a wonderful insight into his writing, and I'm sure anyone who was there and hadn't read him soon will.

I also really appreciate how much work goes into touring for a book. In the last few weeks I've seen him at Bouchercon in Austin, at Magna in Muncie Indiana and he was stopping at stores all along the way. Some of which included his first driving experiences in the US on "the wrong side of the road", first in Muncie, then in Milwaukee. After a talk of over an hour, Richard put him to work signing stacks of Black Dog and the other books. And through out all, he was cheerful and gracious. A wonderful signing and a great guy.
