It was cold. It was very cold. At least outside. Inside Mystery One it was getting quite warm as the store filled up with fans of Mr. Rankin.

When Ruth and I got to the store there were already a few people waiting, including my brother and sister who had already done their part to add to the college fund of Richard’s daughters (they bought many books). By the time Ian arrived with man about town, Bill Young, driver to the stars, the store was looking pretty full.

As Ian was a little early, we chatted a bit and did some catching up. He then went into the mind set of a seasoned veteran of these type of events and charmed the whole crowd. Any doubt that may have been there about why he is so popular was quickly diminished. He fielded the usual type of questions, things about Scotland and it’s cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, things about research, and what is going to happen next in the series. I learned a few things I didn’t know. For instance Ian picks his titles first. Ian also spent time in France living on a vineyard and stomped grapes ( note to self, do not drink vintage 1982 wine....) . He also mentioned going to the school used in Ressurection Men.

There were a lot of people and so there were also many books to sign. Not so many that he would set a record or anything, but quite a few. It was really nice to see how many people decided they needed the book after listening to him talk. I guess this whole signing tour idea really works!!

After the crowd died down and the store stock was signed, a group of us went to dinner at a local eatery called Slim McGinns. Wonderful variety on the menu and a nice choice of beers. We hung out for quite awhile. Among those in attendance were; Paul Jordan, Jennifer Jordan, Dave Bieman, Jim Gysin (from Ram), Terry Ryan, Rick Ryan (local Author) Richard Katz and Ruth and I. We had a really nice time. We talked about movies and music and many other things. Much laughter was heard from our end of the joint. Eventually we drifted off to where we had come from, and Ian got dropped at his hotel. Another visit over much too quickly. Of course it’s only a few months till Bouchercon.......

The photos here were taken mainly by Jennifer Jordan, but also by Paul Jordan, Ruth Jordan and even me, Jon Jordan. (Sensing a theme here? It’s Team Jordan in action)
