In case anyone missed it,
author Ellen Conford was also in demand at B'con. KS and I spotted a note to her on the very first
day of the convention, and promptly delivered it to her in the bar. Then, Jon and I both got
brochures from a woman who is organizing authors around increasing kid's reading and especially
kid's reading of mysteries. They try to get autographed copies of authors books to give to kids when
they're still young -- this woman was hot on the trail of Miss Conford (we didn't say, "Look in
the bar, duh!"). Don't know if LaConford ever met up with her or not (Ellen, her e-mail address
was on the back of the brochure).
Then -- author and Sweet Tart Laura Lippman wanted to meet Ellen since Laura's mom was a kid's
librarian, and Laura is a big fan of kid's books (trivia for those who've read Laura's website --
she mentions at least one kid book in each Tess Monaghan book.) Ellen and Laura chatted for a long
time too.
Besides missing author Katy Munger, we also noted that Carl Brookins was not there this year, and
wished he were. People forged Jane Haddam all over the place, so it was like she was really there
(Jane, it was Judi who forged your signature to the bar bill -- I saw her!). Once again, we missed
all RAMmers, but we're hoping to get a big crowd for Austin.
