Comments from people who say they have tried the recipes |
| I tried the Cheddar Cheese Potatoes with Sour Cream and it was
delicious--perfect for a winter evening, hot and gooey with melted cheese. It would have been
fattening, but the diet drink I had cancelled out any calories, I'm sure. -- Marie |
| I made the bacon fried chicken for dinner the night before
last, and ate all the leftovers for lunch yesterday.
I have to admit that I didn't do it EXACTLY per the recipe. I had too much chicken,
and my electric frying pan is bigger than the size called for, and as a result I didn't have enough
bacon grease to really cook some of the larger pieces. So I poured in a little canola oil and added
a handful of bacon bits to extend what I had there.
It still came out GREAT! We had it with twice-baked potatoes and asparagus with
Hollandaise sauce. I figured if you're going to bombard the coronary arteries, do it all the
way! -- Mark |
| I am on cooking strike until Ellen reports back on the
roast. -- KS |
| I tried the Bubba Burgers and they were great--but
I cut down considerably on the amount of jalapenos! I only used one pepper. Suggestion: If you've
never chopped chili peppers before, removing the seeds and ribs will cut down on the heat. And you
should wear rubber gloves, or wash your hands immediately after you chop the peppers--or you could
put your eye out! -- Ellen |
| I was nagged into trying KS's Killer Coke roast
and have to report that (much to my surprise) it was absolutely delicious. I put some of the coke
marinade in the pot along with the wine and the broth, and it made a terrific gravy. I don't have a
crockpot, but it worked out fine on the stove. My husband said it, and Eileen's Bookmarker Brisket
were the best pot roasts I'd ever made.
I also made Judi's "Spiked Split Pea Soup" which is great! I added some chopped fresh
parsley and scallions, and dashes of thyme and sage. Even cutting the recipe in half, it made a LOT
of soup! Very talented cooks we've got here! -- Ellen |
| I made Eileeen's Bookmarker Brisket and it turned
out great. I added some carrots and potatoes half-way through cooking. We ate the leftovers today
for dinner--just as good the second day. I baked the Southern Biscuit Muffins to go with it--an
excellent accompaniment, and my kids loved them, too. -- Marie |
| I tried your taco pie on Sunday and it was delicious. It
held its shape nicely when I served it, and didn't just spread out all over the plate. It made
the perfect amount for my husband and me, with exactly half left over for another dinner.
Yum! -- Marie |
