from: Eileeeen THE VERY, VERY LAST RESORT STAIN REMOVAL This is only for the stuff you will throw in the rag-bag or in the trash because of stains. Eileeeeen is not responsible if it makes something even worse and/or melts your clothes. But for a lot of stuff, it really, really works - on whites and patterns - may fade solid, dark colors. Gets rid of those yellow stains around-the-neck on baby clothes or armpits of manly-man husband t-shirts. AND you can put patterns in with whites (except dark solids) and whites. I have no idea why - it's a mystery. Wear gloves anytime you're putting hands in the water (I actually use a wooden spoon for handling everything.) Fill a sink with hot, hot, HOT water and add 1 C. of dishwasher detergent (liquid or gel dissolves better than powder) and stir to dissolve. Add garment(s). Let garment(s) soak for an hour, stirring occasionally. Take the garment out, DO NOT RINSE OR WRING. Put it in the other sink while you drain the water. Fill the sink again with hot, hot, HOT water and 1 Cup of chlorine bleach. Put the wet, dripping garment(s) back in the sink with the bleach - yes, even colored stuff - and let it soak, again stirring occasionally. Check now and then to see if the stains are faded or gone. Be patient. Sometimes this step takes several hours. Then pop in washer and wash the normal way. If you have a big batch you can just do the whole thing in the washer, stopping it after it agitates to do the soaking, but adjust the amounts of dishwasher soap and bleach for each step, i.e. - use more for large loads. For the second step, just drain the water, refill with hot, and add bleach. |
