His stories evoke the past and incorporate the new awareness and sensitivity of Sue Grafton, Martha Grimes, Jane Haddam, Sharon McCrumb and Sara Paretski. He lives with his wife, Linda, of 35 years, in Bloomington, Indiana. One daughter and two grandchildren live in north central Indiana, and his youngest daughter lives in Seattle, Washington.
