Series: Blair Emerson # 3
IUniverse, 2004, 241 pages
Funeral Director, Blair Emerson, will do anything to protect her daughter who was abducted as a toddler and recovered after 11 anquish-filled years. Brandi is scarred by her childhood trauma and haunted by OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). Life for Blair and Brandi becomes further off track as Brandi becomes the subject of a true-life crime novel and her father's bid for senate. There is nothing Blair can do to stop the author. The book is published along with pictures of Brandi as a child. Only one person could have sold these pictures, kidnapper Lenny Bond.
Anna Mitchell, a stranger to Live Oaks, who is not the person she claims to be, starts taking strange pictures of Brandi, photos that would expose the child to shame and ridicule if published. Blair must find out who Anna is and why she is bent on destroying her child.
Lenny swears he never sold the pictures but can you trust a con? Lenny's bumbling has set Blair on a collision course with revenge- seeking Taylor McFadden and career criminal Rylie Thorp.
Fast-paced, fantastic plot, well-defined characters who are unique and lovable. Linda Amey's character bumbling kidnapper, Lenny, is "a hoot." She writes with sensitivity and knowledge of Alzheimer's disease.
