Linda Amey once again proves herself a master weaver as she artfully entwines several different subplots in this newest installment in her Blair Emerson series. As with book number 2, the third book continues to provide the reader with additional insight into the main characters - holding the reader’s interest by making sure one doesn’t already know everything there is to know about them. Ms. Amey gives just enough background information to allow the book to be read as a stand alone without boring to tears true Blair Emerson fans.

This particular book deals with quite a wide variety of issues including OCD, childhood cancer, car jacking, political posturing, and invasion of privacy. That Ms. Amey is able to tie up this wide array of diverse topics into a tidy bow is quite an accomplishment and a testament to her skills as a writer.

Ms. Amey once again introduces new settings into the storyline, taking full advantage of her very descriptive writing style. She has a real knack for using words to paint vivid imagery, allowing the reader to see as well as feel the story she weaves. There are several conflicts in the book, and the change of scenery helps punctuate that fact even more.

If Ms. Amey continues at the pace she’s set, the next Blair Emerson installment should be reaching my mailbox sometime soon. I’m looking forward to it!
