Inspector deKok returns with another delightful installment in this atmospheric series featuring the eccentric Amsterdam police officer.

A elderly woman, confined to a wheelchair, contacts the police and insists that deKok be sent to assist her, even though she lives in an area not served by his station. When deKok and his assistant arrive, they are accosted by a flock of protective geese, and must seek the assistance of an elderly gardener to enter the residence.

At first, it seems to be a fairly standard case of an overly fearful and suspicious citizen, but in short order the geese are found poisoned, the gardener has been bludgeoned to death, relatives arrive to "help" and in their turn are found bludgeoned.

DeKok follows a twisting chain of interlocking family relationships, finally finds the right questions to ask, and all becomes clear.

The publisher's notes indicate that more deKok stories are on their way. Good news, indeed!
