Series: Sierra Lavotini # 1
St. Martin's, Sep 1998, $21.95, 228 pp.

Free-spirited Sierra Lavotini enjoys her job as an exotic dancer at Tiffany in Panama City, Florida. However, even for the feisty Sierra, she may have gotten in over her head when she agrees to try to locate Arlo, the abducted dog of Denise, Tiffany's bartender.

When a mobster is found dead in Denise's hotel room, Sierra learns that her friend was once the girl friend of an abusive drug dealer, who had been doing time but is now out of prison. When Denise turns up missing, the stripper with the aid of Fluffy, her Chihuahua, tries one scheme after another to save the bartender and her canine.

THE MIRACLE STRIP is a zany, satirical, and ultra-humorous look at the ever growing Florida literary detective community. The story line contains a wonderful who-done-it, a great support cast, and a bubbly lead protagonist who will disrobe readers of any inhibitions before she completes her rampage through bikers, police, and mobsters. Nancy Bartholomew produces a miracle mix that strips away the veneer of the regional who-done-it with a invigorating novel that hopefully will soon have a repeat performance.
