Deputy Williams of the Cooke County Tennessee Sheriff’s department passed out cold when he went to pick up Dr. Bill Brockton at the request of Tom Kitching, Cooke County Sheriff. Deputy Williams found Dr. Brockton as he was repeatedly plunging a knife into a dead body. Williams failed to realize that he had parked in the middle of the “Body Farm”.

The real name of the “Body Farm” is Anthropology Research Facility located at the University of Tennessee.

Williams had been sent to get Dr. Brockton to assist in a homicide. A body had been found in a cave and had evidently been there a number of years. The body is that of a young woman. From what Dr. Brockton can see the girl was probably very beautiful. The corpse was covered with adipocere, a grave wax, which in this case helped in preserving the corpse.

The investigation uncovers some family feuds that have not died away. Dr. Brockton finds himself in more danger than he bargained for. Carved In Bone is a very interesting book but certainly not for the faint at heart.
