Another book I bought, thinking it was the "1,000 Glass Beads" book.

It's not.

This slim volume of 110 pages is translated from the French, and is nowhere near the weighty tome that comprises "500 Beaded Objects." It's a little book with 34 beaded projects - all of them quick and easy, and almost all of them would be adored by teens and children.

There are some very sweet memory wire bracelets and necklaces, and beaded necklaces strung on ribbon. Decorating one's bedroom and clothing is also touched upon. Wirework is mentioned in the title, but wire is used in an almost tangental way, and this book is not the one you want to learn traditional wireworker's techniques.

"Beads" is stretching it a little bit here, since the authors seem to consider sequins, straws and household objects to be beads, along with more traditional glass, plastic and wooden beads. The projects are cute, but will never be considered great art or heirlooms.

For what it is, the book is cool. I'd get it for a niece or teen friend who wanted to see if she had an interest in beading. For an experienced beader, or one who prefers more adult designs, I think I'd skip it. My copy will be going to the library as a donation.
