I got this book thinking it was the 1,000 Glass Beads one, which was due out at about the same time. Lucky me, it was a whole different book!
This book is _much_ better, at least for a beadworker, as opposed to a beadmaker. It is a huge volume of eye candy, showing the bleeding edge of what can be done with seed bead and imagination - plus one heck of a lot of talent.
Looking at the names of the artists beside each beautiful photograph, you'll recognize all the "big names." You'll also notice that the book is loosely themed, showing two identically named but very different pieces on facing pages. Every technique imaginable is shown here, as well as beads from every corner of the world. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.
Some of the photos are thought provoking or disturbing, others make you gasp at their beauty. I found that I had an emotional reaction to nearly every piece presented, and walked away with my head spinning.
I'm on my third or fourth "read" of the book, although you really can't read a book which consists of almost entirely of photos. Mostly you browse, admire and dive in. This book is like a visit to an art museum that you can carry around with you, and will inspire you to greater challenges in your beadwork for a long, long time.
Definitely a keeper!
