I'm reading this series in order. I like to do that when the characters in a series grow quickly. Melanie Travis is the mother of a small boy and owner of a puppy.

Berenson's characters live in a world pretty close to my own. I like the Mom and kid parenting moments and the ordinary around the house family moments she scatters through all books of the series.

I do enjoy this type of mystery so I'm predisposed to like whatever Berenson writes but I thought this was one of the more fun offerings in the series. Aunt Peg starts dating a non-dog person. That perspective introduced in the continuing theme of the dog fancy world is in itself enough reason to read this particular book.

The mystery revolves around the death of more than one romantic interest of a woman in the dog world. It was a challenge to decipher which I always enjoy.
