When we last saw Melanie her Aunt Peg had just assigned her the raising of a poodle puppy. Naturally Aunt Peg expects the puppy to be shown and earn a championship. Melanie is off to puppy obedience school and once again death stalks the show world and Melanie again must solve a murder.

I thought the first book was a bit more charming but the character development in this one is great. I love the everyday "life with child and dog" world that Berenson fills her books with. I am often reminded of happy memories with own kid and dogs when reading her books.
