Michael A Black is becoming one of my favorite authors and a definite must read. This is the second in his series featuring private detective Ron Shade.

Black has a realism to his writing that blows me away. The relationship with police feels very real, as does his approach to solving the mystery in the book. Plenty of action, and plenty of characterization make the pages fly by.

Ron runs into an old girlfriend and it stirs up old feelings and some trouble too. Ron is training for a kickboxing match and trying to balance that with his job as a PI. When the ex turns up dead things reach a point where Ron has to step in to find out what happened, and it leads to quite a mess.

We also get to find out a bit more about Ron's past, which really rounds out this very human story. Great Book!
