Lily Connor is an Episcopalian priest who takes interim assignments - never in one parish for too long at one time. While substituting for a campus priest at Tate University, an acquaintance from her seminary days walks into Lily's office. Prof. Samantha Lamb-Henderson wants to spend time reconnecting with Lily, who is very uncomfortable about a long-ago relationship she doesn't feel ever really existed.

Lily's suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Samantha and her assistant are researching documents they feel might be part of the mythical "Q" document, a suspected second source for the Gospels of Luke and Mark. If it is proven to exist and is authenticated it will be the most important religious revelation in over a millennium. However, Lily, Samantha, and Francine are all being followed and it is clear that someone does not want the photographs or documents to be revealed - ever.

I just love getting my hands on another Michelle Blake book. Not only do I spend time with a wonderful mystery with theological underpinnings, I always learn something new. Blake's Lily Connor is real and sometimes confuzzled, just like the rest of us, but even when she questions the tenets of organized religion, Lily is a warm, caring being whose faith strengthens her and leads her in new directions, and "The Book of Light" is a bright addition to the Lily Connor series and a reaffirmation of faith and commitment.
