It is odd that a book on writing can be as easy and as entertaining a read as fiction. But if you've even mildly dabbled in writing you'll find yourself blessed by the presence of this book on your shelf. The shelf right next to your computer or typewriter or notebook, within hands reach at all times.

In his introduction, Mr. Block discusses the genesis of this book in an article written for Writer's Digest, entitled "Where Do You Get Your Ideas?" This question, asked of every published author at every book signing I've ever been to, is answered generously and helpfully. He touches on everything from selecting a market to write for to the art of self-discipline to "the perils of explaining too much". You'll how to fight writer's block, withholding information from the reader and the particular problems encountered when developing a series character. It's all here. He ends with a writer's prayer that puts it all into perspective (another subject covered in the book) and will leave even the most tentative of writer's eager to put fingers to keyboard.
