This is a FABULOUS first book. It stars Joe Pickett who is a game warden in Wyoming. This is not my typical type of book. Usually I read cozies. This is a little beyond that, but not a hard core book by any means.

I liked his character Joe Pickett and his family. It was really good how he lets you see things from Joe's point of view as well as from Sheridan's, his daughter.

I don't know much about game warden's and it is not a profession I would think would be interesting for a book, but it is in this series.

I HIGHLY recommend you read this first book. Because of a shot from a rifle, Joe is thrust into a race to try to save not only an endangered species, but to figure out a mystery that will threaten his life and family.
