Oscar Wilde and friends have found the Socrates Club which meets for dinner one Sunday evening each month. At one of the dinners, Oscar suggests a game called ‘Murder’. Each guest will write the name of someone they would like to murder if they were sure not to be found out. The names will be put in a bag and when pulled out the men will try to guess who named that person and why. When those named begin to die, Oscar and friends must work hard to find the murderer ... after all, Oscar’s name is on that list.

The story starts slowly due to the necessary setup but you will find skillful characterization and a real sense of 1890’s England. If you like history or period pieces, if you are a fan of Oscar Wilde, if you enjoy puzzles, this may be the book for you.
