Leon, his brother Leon, Jr. and Leon’s friend Roy decide to take Leon’s black Trans Am and go on a crime spree. Their idea of a crime spree is knocking over gas stations and convenience stores, swilling Buds, smoking Marlboros and whistling at passing women. Leon and Roy are having a great time but Junior isn’t so sure that running around rural California on a crime spree is his idea of fun.
Roy and Leon decide to send Junior in to hold up a liquor store and give him a gun to accomplish the task but no bullets. The two sisters that own the liquor store are a shade smarter than Junior and the three wind up on the run with an injured Junior.
The gang finds a cabin set back off the road and the occupants are senior citizens. The wife is a retired nurse and works on Junior’s injuries. Leon and Roy soon find out that the husband is a retired bank robber and they decide it is time for him to come out of retirement and help them do a bank job.
Meanwhile, Deputy Debra Kemp is investigating the liquor store hold-up. Deputy Kemp wants very much to become a detective and she leaves no stone unturned in her investigation.
Put the mix together and you will enjoy a few laughs at the expense of Leon, Leon Junior and Roy. They find out that Vince and Maria Carson are quite a bit smarter than the group attempting to hold them hostage. Deputy Kemp is making points with her investigation. Steve Brewer’s books are getting better all the time.
