Former Chicago homicide detective Joe Riley has been trying to find hit woman Lily Marden for a long time because she is the key to getting his job back. The trail takes him to Las Vegas where he gets into a card game with two gamblers who don’t take kindly to losing all their money to a tourist. While he is winning a small fortune, Lily is completing her latest contract. Joe reads about the murder the next day and knows it is Lily.

Joe isn’t the only one who is itching to find Lily. The police are looking for her as is the twin psychotic brothers of the victim who want to kill her. The owner of the hotel where the victim was murdered sends his security to kill her Vegas style. The two gamblers keep getting in Joe’s way and while everybody is tripping over each other, Joe and Lily unexpectedly find themselves attracted to one another.

BULLETS will remind readers of a Three Stooges’ farce and that must be the author’s intention because one of the characters in the book is a Curly look-alike. Fast pacing, witty dialogue and a lot of action make Steve Brewer’s latest crime thriller a fun and entertaining reading experience. The greatest mystery of this novel is why Lily is a likable and endearing character.
