Bullets is the story of Lily Marsden, a professional killer whose latest hit turns quite messy. She takes a job to eliminate Max Vernon and decides to make the hit in an upscale Las Vegas Hotel called The Tropical Bay. After completing the job, a whole crew of characters are after Lily for showing disrespect by killing in a Las Vegas Hotel.

The owner of the hotel, Ken Staley, sends his head of security on Lily’s trail since business is on a steady decline due to the murder on the hotel premises. Max had twin brothers who are big businessmen in Vegas and are out to avenge his death. Meanwhile, an ex-cop and gambler, Joe Riley is also hot on Lily’s trail to clear his name after suspicion is thrown on him for one of Lily’s previous hits in Chicago which caused him to lose his career as a police officer. The Las Vegas police are looking for Lily too but are way behind the others since the investigating officers are a woman who has only been in homicide for a week and her partner who is only weeks away from retirement and can’t be bothered to help her.

I loved this book. This is my second Steve Brewer book and will definitely not be my last. I found it to be quite the page turner and loved the characters. His descriptions of the characters were so vivid one felt as if you knew them personally. I certainly hope Mr. Brewer comes up with a sequel to this one. I would highly recommend it as a page turner. I just did not want the book to end.
