Series: Bubba Mabry # 6
Intrigue, Mar 2001, $23.95, 251 pp.

Do not let his name, Bubba Mabry, fool you into thinking he is a redneck private investigator with the intelligence of an overripe turnip and the sensitivity of collard greens. Bubba is a caring and sensitive person who always catches his person. While Bubba's wife, a photojournalist, is on a shoot, mild mannered accountant Melvin Haywood hires him to find out the identity of the person his deceased spouse committed adultery with. The client needs this information in order to obtain closure.

Bubba travels to The Manor, an enclave where the rich and powerful live. One of the neighbors identifies Dr. Andrew Rulins, a famous sports physician, as the culprit. However, Bubba's efforts to question the doctor lead to Andrew's assistant tossing him out on his butt. Bubba informs his client on what has happened so far. Not long afterward, Bubba learns that someone murdered the doctor, Melvin is missing, and the police are looking at whether Bubba can be held for conspiring to commit murder.

Steve Brewer writes a clever, unusual mystery that is special because the author discerningly injects humor into the story line. CRAZY LOVE takes the reader into a world filled with the rich and famous, which makes Sodom and Gomorra look like a Sunday school parish. Series fans will enjoy the latest Bubba tale in this warm and inviting series.
