Series: Bubba Mabry # 7
Intrigue Press, 2006, 232 pps.

A trip to the zoo won’t be a likely choice in the near future for Bubba Mabry. In Monkey Man Bubba found out more about the zoo than he ever wanted to know.

Jeff Simmons, a new client of Bubba’s sets up an appointment to meet Bubba in a restaurant to discuss Jeff’s suspicions of some wrong doing at the zoo. Jeff feels too many animals are dying and wants Bubba to investigate. Before Bubba can get all the information from Jeff a man in a gorilla costume walks in and shoots Jeff right in front of Bubba.

Next Jeff’s fiancée begs Bubba to find her lover’s killer. When Bubba tries to investigate he begins running into obstacles and getting himself deeper and deeper in trouble.

I very much enjoyed Brewer’s tale of Bubba’s mishaps in the zoo and how he finally narrowed down the culprits that were responsible for the animals disappearing and for the death of Jeff Simmons. Bubba’s wife Felicia is always fun and is a great addition to the story.
