Let's dive the depths A Superior Mystery. The prologue has Jarl Rylston riding the logs behind a steam engine boat into Chaguamegon Bay after a hasty escape from a saloon. What is he trying to escape and why? Those answers all lie over a hundred years in the future.

Our erstwhile hero, Michael Tanner, returns from Inner Passages to a new life with his new wife Mary Whitney. An inquiry from a lumber company in Ashland, Wisconsin raises questions and compels them to leave their home in Seattle to visit the cold waters of Lake Superior. Once there, every question answered seems to open up a slew of new ones and a skull dredged up from the bottom of the lake gives us a mystery within the mystery. What seemed to be a simple business proposition turns into trouble and puts them both in mortal danger.

This is a fast-paced suspense novel that affords the reader a delightful rendition of the Lake Superior area. As our heroes race to find out who's after them we are stumped by two mysteries in one. An enjoyable escapade.
