First Lady Beth MacMann (aka "Lady BethMac") becomes an ex-First Lady by virtue of being charged with assassination in the death of her husband, philandering Chief Executive Ken MacMann. The late President was found dead in his bed, with the imprint of a priceless Paul Revere silver spitoon on his forehead. When it's revealed that the decedent and the First Lady had been engaged in a loud argument on the night of his demise over the consummation of the President's relationship with a famous actress in the Lincoln Bedroom, the First Lady's conviction seems inevitable. Until, that is, she retains the services of famous criminal lawyer Boyce "Shameless" Baylor, who, coincidentally, is the guy she dumped in Law School to marry the future President. Hijinks ensue.

This book takes wickedly funny jabs at politicians, the legal profession, and especially America's trial-obsessed media (Boyce's current girlfriend is the host of a Court-TV show called "Hard Gavel"). There are also plenty of twists and turns in the story to keep you interested. I was laughing out loud through the whole thing. I'm already pressing this book on people I know, so...Five stars.
