Andrea Camilleri
Class/Genre:   Mystery
Series: Inspector Montalbano # 6
Penguin, 2005

Camilleri's delightful Inspector Montalbano returns - this time seeking answers to the mysterious disappearance of a financial swindler. His pyramid scheme has begun to disintegrate and dozens of local inhabitants are up in arms demanding restitution of their vanished savings.

Sicilian atmosphere wraps the story in its arms - with eccentrics, overbearing police superiors, expanding housing developments, delicious food, Mediterranean weather, and all the other features of Camilleri's tales which readers look forward to and savor as they read.

Montalbano's superiors see the Mafia behind every bush, and only by steadfastly ignoring them and following his own instincts is he able to figure out the truth.
