Series: Greg and Jill McKenzie # 1

This fast-paced book moves between the Middle East and the US and back again as the retired US Air Force investigator Greg McKenzie struggles to rescue his wife, kidnapped in the fight between competing factions for possession of a scroll with information which might further destabilize the entire Middle East. To make matters worse, Mackenzie's volatile temperament has ensured the alienation of people who should be his natural allies in this battle.

The mystery element is not particularly strong in this novel, since it is obvious from early in the story what the secret of the scroll is, and who the villains are. The only well-developed character is McKenzie himself. However, a reader looking for a quick read and some light entertainment will find it here.
