Sam Brennan is found in his mansion by Lauren Masters, one of his employees. He has been bludgeoned to death by a Michael Jackson statuette. Sam was greatly loved by many people and his death is a shock to the whole community.

Detective Roxanne Prescott of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is assigned to the case, which just becomes more and more complicated.

Sam grew up in a foster home. He made his life work helping people find children for adoption and connecting adopted children with their birth parents. Sam was able to locate his own parents but it was too late. Both of his parents were deceased but he did locate a half sister.

Sam was an avid collector and his home was full of his collections as well as some secret rooms.

This book was one that I found hard to get into but it picked up further into the book and the conclusion was shocking. The ending showed that even though Sam seemed to be loved by everyone there was someone out there that wanted him dead.
