U.S. Marshal Connor McCoy and Transnational/Major Crimes Sections Junior U.S. Attorney Bronte O’Brien attend his youngest brother’s wedding to her best friend. Both are bored by the happy event, so they take a walk together. They both remember being students years ago at George Washington, but have hardly talked as she recognizes that he suffers from commitment phobia. Still, Connor and Bronte share a Kiss that could light up California.
However, before they can explore the heat each emits from that kiss, Bronte and Connor receive separate calls on their respective cell phones. Apparently, someone murdered Bronte’s star witness on an upcoming case. The police believe Connor killed the witness. Not only does Bronte believe Connor is innocent, she decides to prove that and to do an even more impossible task, persuade him, through love, they belong together.
The last of the unmarried McCoys, Connor finds love in an exciting romantic suspense novel that will leave series fans disappointed that this novel is the finale. Meanwhile, newcomers will delightfully seek the other McCoy tales. NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN is fun to read as the romance blends nicely with a legal investigation. The lead characters are a strong duo and the return of the real McCoys from previous stories feel like the audience is attending another wedding. Hopefully, Tori Carrington will never say never to more McCoy books even if it means starring the next generation in the year 2025.
