“Ghost Dancer” may scare off the average reader and not because of the typical blood or violence that is common in the genre. Far more intimidating is the fact that the main character is a Mathematician!!! But buck up, fearful reader, “Ghost Dancer” is a complex and captivating story not to be missed.
The story revolves around two men, Frank Wilson and Mike Burke. Wilson is the Ghost Dancer, a genius in mathematics, plans to use inventor Tesla’s harmonic resonance as a weapon to destroy the U.S. Abandoned as a baby, raised in foster homes in Nevada, and he learned of his Native American Indian heritage. In addition to the mathematics and physics studies, he researched the culture and heritage of Native American Indians. He learned of their demise and cultural destruction. This, in addition to unfair treatment regarding a patent, fuels Wilson’s resentment and desire for revenge. Mike Burke is searching for his life’s purpose since his wife’s death 8 months ago. Still residing in Dublin, Ireland and working for his father-in-law, he establishes a corporation for Wilson. This brief exchange launches a chain of events leading Burke on a quest to find Wilson, and eventually his own purpose.
“Ghost Dancer” is well-crafted story that takes you around the world from a terrorist to selling diamonds. While the mathematics and physics topics may cause some trepidation, they are intricately woven as part of the dialogue that the most “arithmetic challenged” person will still enjoy this book. The characters are engaging and set in interesting locations. “Ghost Dancer” is a thriller not to be missed.
