Sometimes you can judge a book by it's cover. Owen Smith's portrayal of Alicia on her bike was admittedly, one of the reasons I picked up Daniel Chavarria's Adios Muchachos. The back cover blurbs and the fact it won the 2001 Edgar award are another. Once you start reading there's enough titilation in Adios Muchachos to enjoy, there's some crime, some double dealing, a big cover up, a big surprise and... more than that and I spoil things. This was a quick, enjoyable read. Memorable in some ways but from the blurbs, I expected more. If you're looking for something to read on a flight or between meatier, darker novels, Adios Muchachos is it.
