Jon- Atlantic City. The east coast Vegas. This is where we find Jack Reacher at the start of this new adventure, the sixth in the series. Reacher is spending some time with some musicians to make sure they don’t get ripped off in return for the ride they gave him. And typical of Reacher, he’s not dressed for the weather. While this is going on, someone is trying to track him down. And not having a whole lot of luck doing so.....

Ruth- Secret Service Agent Froelich is newly in charge of the Vice President Elect’s security detail and wants Reacher for a special job. She used to work and play with Joe. Can her team be compromised and the Veep -Elect brought down? What’s really behind her request?

Jon- She talks Jack into taking the job, and he does so on his terms.

Ruth- Tell them about the kick-ass Sergeant, honey!

Jon- I was getting to that! His terms include recruiting some help from some one he knows from his Military Police days, Frances Neagly, who now runs a security firm in the Chicago area. Reacher reports back about six days later and informs the Secret Service of three and a half chances they would have had to take the VP out. Jack being who he is, at this point wants to know what's really going on.

Ruth- ...and the story continues to unfold. Mr. Child holds his audience from the first page to last in the newest Reacher novel. The addition of Neagly is refreshing and one hopes we’ll run into her again. This is classic Reacher and whatever town he hits next this reader will be along with him, wondering what the next adventure is.

Jon - I’d like to add that I think Lee Child does a wonderful job of giving us some more background about Reacher by using Reacher’s brother as a reason for it to come up. We get information, and it just flows out as part of the story rather than being added as an after thought. And yet, Reacher is still enough of an enigma to be interesting for years to come.

So basically, we both love this book!!!
