It is nearly Mardi Gras time in New Orleans with everyone preparing for the celebration in a city trying to recover. Carmella and friend Ava are partying at friend Jekyl Hardy’s apartment when things go terribly wrong. Archie Baudier is killed in a bizarre way and Jekyl asks Carmella to help him find the killer.

When not sleuthing, Carmella Bertrand runs a scrapbooking store. The women spend a lot of time partying and even more on wild adventures to spooky or dangerous places in their quest to take the suspicion away from friend Jekyl.

Childs is a skillful writer with great characters, a marvelous tour of the New Orleans scene including the cuisine and the Mardi Gras floats. You’ll find her books smart and funny and well worth the read.
