This third in the Grace & Favor series featuring adult siblings Lily and Robert while featuring a local murder mystery, also takes us from rural New York in 1932 to Washington DC during the days of the Bonus Army march on the Hoover Administration, a historical event of which I was previously unaware. I found it fascinating. I liked that only 3 books into the series the characters are growing and developing a lot, relationships and situations are changing for all the regular protagonists. I also think that in every book in this series, the word pictures provided by the author are more vivid than her other series. Its a rich environment she has created for her characters and yet the stories remain cozy for the most part despite the misery many suffered in that era. This particular book featured a lot of details about how people "made do" during the depression and I learned a lot. Great read for historical buffs.
