Laura Winslow is now Laura Marana of Tuscon, hoping her past is not going to catch up with her. She has a new job and new friends, but is always looking over her shoulder, just in case. As a high-tech sleuth for a local, aging private investigator, Miguel Zepeda, Laura is hoping to be able to start over.

Miguel's newest client, however, is making Laura very nervous and she can't reach Miguel to ask him questions. Nor can she reach one of her operatives. Then Miguel's ex-son-in-law, Rey Villanueva, shows up on her doorstep insisting that Laura come with him to find the missing Miguel. What they find is a trashed office and killers in the process of setting fire to the place.

David Cole continues his Laura Winslow series with another winner; mixing the high-tech cyber world that Laura uses to find people with Mexican gangs, Internet scams, and fraud. The Killing Maze is a complex story with multiple plots that still manage to tie together. Well worth reading, David Cole should be on everyone's lists.
