This is the first book in the Charlotte LaRue Mystery series.
Charlotte LaRue owns a cleaning business. She lives near and works
in the Garden District of New Orleans. She employs two full-time
and three part-time employees.
Charlotte's client Jeanne Dubuisson lives in a nineteenth-century Greek Revival mansion with her husband Jackson, her mother Clarice. Currently the Dubuisson's 20 year old daughter was staying there as well.
Charlotte's son Hank is a doctor. He's trying to talk Charlotte into retiring and selling the duplex unit she lives in 1/2 of. Charlotte is not interested.
Hank talks Charlotte into going to The Zoo To Do event with him. He also has Carol Jones with him. Charlotte is happy to see they are still dating. She spends some time with Carol which makes her like her even more. At the event, Charlotte sees Jackson Dubuisson with Sydney Marriott. When Charlotte was at the Dubuisson's house that day, Jackson had called and told Jeanne that he had to work late that night. Sydney's husband Tony showed up and verbally attacked Jackson and left with Sydney.
Then Jackson Dubuisson is found murdered in his study. Charlotte begins to discreetly find out information from Clarice and Charlotte.
Charlotte's niece Judith Monroe is a detective with the New Orleans Police Department and has been assigned to this case with her attractive partner Louis Thibodeaux.
Charlotte is definitely the type of maid I'd want if I had one. She is thorough but yet down to earth and an enjoyable person. I can't wait for the next book!
