A stand alone from the author of the popular Harry Bosch series of detective fiction.
Cassie Black works in LA - selling luxury cars to the nouveau riche of the movie & TV industry. She also harbors several secrets - one of which is completely private from her coworkers and neighbors. Her boss knows she is a parolee - released from prison on a felony murder charge, reduced to manslaughter in a plea bargain and making her eligible for a return to society after serving six years.
But the urge is strong to return to her old life, relieving big winners in Las Vegas of their newly acquired cash, and one of her secrets provides a powerful incentive to do just that. But things go wrong, and a vicious enemy begins to stalk her - seeking to reclaim the cash now in her possession. The enemy has a few other goals as well, and he plans to kill everyone and anyone who might prevent him from attaining them.
The action moves from LA - {{not glittery Hollywood or the languid beaches, but lower middle class LA, where fringe members of society like Cassie work and live}} to Las Vegas {{not the elegant new highly touted casino/resorts but a casino on a downward slide}}
The title refers to a short period of time described by astrologers, during which the moon moves from one house to another. The gap is dubbed a "void moon." And plans coming to fruition during that gap are doomed to failure. But whose plans will fail? Cassie's or the man who pursues her?
