The Lovers is the latest in John Connolly’s Charlie “Bird” Parker series. Bird’s PI license has been revoked and he is working at a Portland bar. With no PI license and unable to carry a gun, Bird cannot take on cases so decides to investigate his past and try to figure out why his father killed two unarmed teenagers and then himself. His search will lead him to question everything he has known up until now.

At the same time, an ex-reporter, Mickey Wallace, is trying to gather information to write a book on Bird. Bird is very much against the book but his efforts to dissuade the writer only spur him on to dig deeper.

The Lovers also tells of Emily Kinder who is a young woman on the run from unseen threatening forces. She takes off from the latest town she had been living in after her boyfriend is murdered. She believes her Mother was also murdered.

All the secrets will be revealed by the end of the book. The Lovers is a page turner that will compel you to finish it as quickly as possible to find the answers. Louis and Angel make a brief appearance also. Fans of John Connolly will find this latest addition a must read.
