The first half dragged, too much character and place description. I thought I might stop after the fifty page mark, but I was curious to see where the book was going. The writing style was not as polished as I have come to expect from much of the mystery genre. It seemed simplistic and predictable.

The characters were all in superlatives. No one was average or ordinary. The main protagonists, Dr. Samoa Tate and Detective Clark were movie star beautiful. At times, the book read like a romance novel.

The second half of the book seemed more concise and the action moved the plot along. I figured out whodunit well before the author revealed it, which is unusual for me.

The book had predictable life-threatening crises for three of the main characters and a predictable happy ending.

On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, I would give this a 1.5.
